SNAP - Helping teens (under 21) make positive choices when it comes to use of drugs and alcohol and impaired driving

What is SNAP?

The SNAP Program seeks to equip teens for responsible decision-making. Responsible decisions do not happen in a vacuum. Promising Futures believes that parents and youth both need tools to help create the environment for better decisions when it comes to use of drugs and alcohol and impaired driving.

The Vision

The vision is simple... provide the resources for teens to make the right choices. Promising Futures desires to encourage collaboration amongst the various government and nonprofit agencies to embrace a shared agenda when addressing the reduction of youth substance use and impaired driving. Through its efforts, SNAP envisions a reduction of substance abuse and the increase in responsible driving among teens.

Strategic long-term objectives:

  • Collaboration:
Provide opportunities where conversations and knowledge sharing can strengthen the various coordinated efforts of government entities and nonprofits.
  • Communication:
Provide research, data and information that widens awareness and deepens understanding of the risks and consequences of poor decisions regarding youth substance use and impaired driving.
  • Comprehension:
Develop youth’s understanding of making right decisions through programs and campaigns like Buckle Down, Counselor Forums, and Battle of the Bands.

Who does SNAP serve?

SNAP’s main target audience are parents/guardians and youth under 21. The channels that allow SNAP to reach the target audience will include schools, various government agencies and other viable institutional and community-based entities where SNAP can galvanize its audience.
