PARENTING CLASSES

The mission of the Hamilton County Parenting Coalition is to address the need for parent education in Hamilton County by supporting the immediate availability of parenting classes for parents and to provide parenting classes at little or no cost to the families.

The “Raising Children → Building Families” series is a program that guides parents through sharing and learning. This series is based on the interests of the families attending. Participants can expect each series to cover the following topics :

Child Development
Child Safety
Communication
Discipline
Family Relationships
Nutrition/Activity
Peer Relationships
Self Esteem
Parenting Styles

Program Costs
The fee for each 4 class series is $20 per family. This includes childcare and refreshments. Fee assistance is available. To request fee assistance note this on your registration form. All classes will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm.

History of the Parenting Coalition
The Coalition formed in 1994 in recognition of the need for ongoing parent education in the Hamilton County area. A lack of parenting skills was being noticed in the families receiving services from the agencies in the coalition. Several local agencies met periodically over a period of one year, forming the Parenting Coalition, and formulated a philosophy for providing on-going Parenting Classes that could be more available to the community than what currently existed. The Coalition began presenting classes in 1995 and has done so on a continuous basis since that time.
